I grew up near Oxford in a small town quite similar to Winchcombe and then read politics at Durham. After graduation I combined further studies in politics and theology at Durham, Cambridge and Oxford with a career as a church musician. But I had always sensed a call to ministry, so having been ordained in the Diocese of Derby I served as a curate in a group of parishes in the heart of the Peak District. I then moved to Gloucestershire and spent five years as Chaplain to the Bishop of Gloucester before coming to Winchcombe at the beginning of 2016.
I’m married to Liz, a consultant ophthalmologist, and we have a young daughter called Suzanna. As well as the three of us you will probably also meet our two friendly border terriers, Rosie and Wellington. Liz and I enjoy travelling and in recent years have taken two groups of young people to India. In my spare time I keep up my interests in politics, history, theology and music. I am an enthusiast about all things astronautical and I also follow the ups and downs of Newcastle United.
