May 2016 PCC Meeting
Synopsis of the May 2016 PCC Meeting
This was the first meeting of the PCC following the Annual Parochial Church Meeting in April at which 3 new members, Stephen Carter, Sue Teggert & Jane Wain were elected. John Paul welcomed them and everyone introduced themselves. Before the meeting started we had a period of Bible study.
Alan Thomas was re-elected as Lay Chair, Margaret Bearne as Secretary and Roger Eckley as Treasurer; Alan Thomas and Rob Davies agreed to be the 2 PCC representatives on the Finance & General Purposed Committee (F&GP), which meets every 2 months in between PCC Meetings.
The PCC authorised a number of people to assist with the distribution of Holy Communion for a 3-year period in accordance with ‘The Administration of Holy Communion Regulations 2015’.
We were told that, although the Parish Office in St Peter’s Centre has been very ably run by volunteers for many years, it is felt that the time has come to employ an administrator on a part-time basis. The possibility exists that a short-term grant may be available to help with the cost.
Progress on St Peter’s driveway has stalled temporarily due to the fact that the recommended option of a resin-based system requires a drainage system to be put in place. The PCC authorised the appointment of Richard Basnett Associates, church architects, to draw up plans and oversee the drainage issue. It is still hoped that the job can be completed before winter sets in.
It was felt that the APCM, which was attended by over 80 people, and the following ‘Bring & Share’ lunch were very successful. Holding it after the 10.30 Service, with lunch and activities for children, was the best time for younger members of the congregation. The booklet of reports was also felt to be successful and next year may contain more reports from groups such as the choir, bell ringers, flower arrangers, etc.
The Diocese has approved the sale of Gretton Old Tower to the Gretton Tower Trust for a nominal figure. The following resolution was passed: ‘This PCC, meeting on Monday 16 May 2016, resolved to commence proceedings in order to sell Gretton Old Tower to the Gretton Tower Trust’.
The website of the Trust is: www.grettontower.org.uk.
